This is a compound complex sentence because it has two independent and one dependent clause.Independent clauses are coordinated by 'and' and dependent clause is joined by a subordinator 'so'

This is a compound sentence because it has three independent clauses. The first independent clause is “It was a generous offer” with the subordinator “and” before the second independent clause “I didn't feel right rejecting it” and after the other subordinator “so”, there is a third independent clause “I nodded and leaned down and tasted it” behind it.

Consider this sentence:

If a sentence is compound, how may subordinators might we expect to find in it, and why?

There are three independent clauses and no dependent clause in this sentence. The pronoun “It” functions as the subject and “was” functions as the verb in the first independent clause. The pronoun “I” functions as the subject and “did…feel” functions as the verb in the second independent clause. The pronoun “I” functions as the subject and “nodded…leaned…tasted” function as verbs in the third independent clause. The coordinators in this sentence are “and’ and “so.” Therefore, this sentence is a compound sentence.

This sentence is a compound sentence because it has three independent clauses which are “It was a generous offer,” “I didn’t feel right rejecting it,” and “I nodded and leaned down and tasted it.” The coordinators are the first “and” and “so” to connect there clauses.

This is a compound sentence because there are three independent clauses joined by two coordinators. The first independent clause was "It was a generous offer", and the second independent clause was "I didn't feel right rejecting"; however, it was joined with the coordinator "and" between the two clauses. The last independent clause was "I nodded and leaned down and teast it". This final clause was joined with the second clause by the coodinator "so".

There are three subject-verb combinations in this sentence: "It was...I did feel...I nodded, leaned, and tasted..."

In this sentence, it forms three independent clauses by using coordinating conjunctions to connect independent clause to independent clause: "and" "so"

As we know this sentence has three independent clauses, it makes this sentence a compound sentence.

Consider this explanation from one of the posts above:

There are three subject-verb combinations in this sentence: "It was...I did feel...I nodded, leaned, and tasted..."

In this sentence, it forms three independent clauses by using coordinating conjunctions to connect independent clause to independent clause: "and" "so"

As we know this sentence has three independent clauses, it makes this sentence a compound sentence.

This explanation has three parts. Which of those parts should appear first, which second, and which last? Why should the parts appear in that order? Which piece of information here is not something that we have discussed in this course? What information about the sentence that has not been included in this explanation should be included, and why?

This sentence is a compound complex sentence because it has two independent clauses and one dependent clause. The first independent clause is “it was a generous offer”, the second one is “I didn’t feel right rejecting it” and the dependent clause starting from “so” to “it” with “I” as the subject with three verbs as we know: nodded, leaned and tasted.
